Alexander McQueen F/W 2010/11 Haute Couture - Collections

Stumbled upon one of McQueen's last couture shows. I have been searching for the runway show in video.
I am speechless. View my post, posted in 2010 at the announcement of his passing: click here.

Jean Paul Gaultier F/W 2010 Haute Couture (Collections)

Burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese made her debut on Gaultier's runway, strutting in a floor-length black semi-shear gown with added curves such as shoulders and hips. Shoulder pads were everywhere; added to trenches and couture gowns. Gathered head-dresses, and hair skyrocketed into the air. Models with cigarette holders at hand. The collection; dominant, elegant, and poised. Blacks, leather browns and nude beige, furs in gradient white and gray, yellows-greens, and velvet royal blues. And a touch of lavender. Gaultier finishes the collection with a hybrid wedding gown, violin at hand. View the complete collection, here.

Christian Dior F/W Haute Couture (Collections)

A delightful twist to the somber color-palette of winter. Galliano gives fall a much needed explosion of COLOR and decadence. The inspiration was clear in this collection "Florals!", also stemmed from the 1959 S/S "Tulip" Collection. Yards and yards of tulle and multi-hued fabrics feathered, ruched, and ruffled!

Since I am so devout to Galliano, I decided to sketch three different looks from this collection!

Since, I am writing about Katrantzou. I thought it would be great to review her collection! It is a tad past-due. But, I love to review designer collections.

Depuis, j'écris de Katrantzou. J'ai pensé ce serait grand réexaminer sa collection! C'est Tad dû passé. Mais, j'aime réexaminer les collections de dessinateur.

Katrantzou is a Master of Print, her gorgeous sense of color and print is obvious in this collection. She is part of the new Digital Print Revolution on the runway at London Fashion Week. Many of the dresses seamlessly incorporated pieces of sashe, medal, and ormulo. The kaleidoscopic array of digital print and the opulence of frill and ruffle wonderfully creates an exotic silhouette. A collection mostly of Mini-Dresses proved to be one of the most exciting collections during LFW.

Yves Saint Laurent A/W10 RTW (Collections)

Stefano Pilati understands Yves Saint Laurent's vision, perfectly shown in the new Autumn-Winter collection. Pilati takes us back to the very roots of YSL's humble, and simple beginnings as a designer and as a Fashion Label. Pilati gives us the essence of YSL's silhouette. The collection was not all black, there were complete looks in solid colors such as yellow, purple, and hot pink.

Pam Hogg A/W10 (Collections)

Models strut in eight inch "knee-length" platforms in black PVC, black crinoline head-dresses, skin tight semi-transparent tights, and gorgeously executed jumpsuits in the classic combination black & gold. While Siouxsie sings "The Last Beat of my Heart." Hogg's show was clever, dark, gothic influenced, and effortlessly mysterious.

Iris Van Herpen F/W 10 (Collections)

Iris Van Herpen's sixth collection is wonderfully ethereal. Herpen definitely transcends Fashion, making frocks into extraordinary works of Art. Herpen among a few other Designers take Fashion to extreme heights. I always look forward to seeing her collections. Herpen constructs holographic, ethereal garments that are based on the alternate reality of "Synesthesia".

Eighties Revivalism? Yes!!! Armani plays with a warm color palette, reds and oranges being the focal point in the collection. Gorgeous masculine tailoring with a strict Eighties silhouette, although we do see soft draped fabrics, FUR, and velvets which balance the collection beautifully. Asymmetrical shoulders, and classic evening-wear. And to end the show, we get twins in black asymmetrical dresses incorporating concentric circles!!!

The color palette consisted of more rustic and muted colors with a pop of mustard yellow and blue. The collection overall was beautifully executed, new proportions and silhouettes are introduced, and....... some more fur. I absolutely adore the last five black body-conscious dresses in the collection.
