Alexandre Vauthier S/S 2011 Haute Couture - Collections

Power femme at Alexandre Vauthier.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous collection.Vauthier has worked with Thierry Mugler and Jean Paul Gaultier, for those who didn't know. I adore this collection, powerful, chic, and elegantly feminine. Exaggerated shoulder pads, strong clean cuts, applique detail throughout the collection, almost menswear in approach. I just feel terribly saddened when I see a model that can't walk in the dress or skirt, i.e. the ruched mini skirt and mink bolero, poor thing.

Givenchy S/S 2011 Haute Couture - Collections

East meets Couture at Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci. 

Elements of Eastern heritage stepped into the collection, strong sculptural shapes, folds, and cuts with hints of color splashed here and there. Intense embroidery detail in the collection which consisted mostly of evening-wear looks.

I am definitely inspired!

Armani Privé S/S 2011 Haute Couture - Collections

It's liquid at Armani. Silky, plastic-y fabrics make for new (never before seen) silhouettes. Strong and dominant cuts. Electric trance colors. 

 

 

 

Christian Dior S/S 2011 Haute Couture - Collections

50's Parisienne glamour at Dior.

Galliano surprises viewers by giving an aesthetic twist to spring at the opening of the Dior 2011 show. Reds and blacks draped across Karlie Kloss as she opens the show, similar to the the Purple frock she wore at the Fall 2010 show. The collection consisted of an elegant color scheme of pastel, some spring colors popped in and out. Dramatic silhouettes and an excess of glamor that I have been so longing to see. The couple dresses at the finale are incredible, I could just imagine the amount of time & effort it took to create this collection.
